Ottawa Ductless Mini-Split Installation & Replacement

More control, more efficiency, no ducts and less noise…it’s easy to see why ductless systems are quickly gaining popularity in Ottawa.

A ductless system can be especially cost efficient if your home doesn’t have existing ductwork or needs new ductwork. Ductless systems have proven to be more efficient than traditional home comfort systems and offer more customizable controls.

This system is split into two units: the evaporative unit and the condensing unit. Instead of using ductwork to distribute air throughout the house like a central air system would do, a ductless system utilizes individual units throughout the home.

Since the need for extensive ductwork is eliminated, there are many benefits to installing a ductless mini-split system.

Zoned Cooling

Multiple indoor units can be installed throughout the house and each unit can be independently controlled—allowing for zoned cooling.

Flexible Installation

Mini-split systems are perfect for homes without existing ductwork and for homeowners that don’t want to live through destructive construction to upgrade their old ducts.

Increased Efficiency

Since ducts are a major source of energy loss, switching to a ductless mini-split system will automatically increase efficiency.

Which Ductless System Is Right For You?

If you’re interested in installing a ductless air conditioning system in your home, you may have a few questions about what system is right for you. There are two options available, and while very similar in concept, there are a few unique differences.

Ductless Air Conditioner

A ductless air conditioner works much like a central air conditioner in the way it’s used to cool your home. While a central air conditioner uses ductwork to disperse cool air through your home’s registers, a ductless air conditioner uses several units installed throughout the home. What makes a ductless air conditioner unique and even more appealing to some households than a central air conditioner is that it gives the homeowner the ability to choose a different temperature for each room as opposed to one uniform temperature throughout the whole house.

Ductless Heat Pump

While a ductless heat pump works similarly to a ductless air conditioner in the way it uses several units throughout the home to disperse air instead of ductwork, however, the key difference is that a ductless heat pump disperses both hot and cold air. Ductless heat pumps can be used all year round, doing the job of both a central air conditioner and a furnace. Ductless heat pumps are extremely efficient and can significantly reduce your home’s energy bills.
