Clogged Condensate Drain

Now that summer has peaked, you’re probably thinking about turning off your cooling system for the season. Before you do, take a moment to inspect your indoor unit—including the condensate drain— so that any problem areas that might have appeared over the summer can be addressed and taken care of.

Water Pooling
When air conditioners are in use—they’re constantly pulling moisture from the air—creating condensation that usually exits your system and home without any issues. However, sometimes the drains and tubing can be become clogged. When this happens, you’ll likely notice water pooling around your indoor unit.

Drains that are left with clogs can cause water damage that could be expensive to repair as well as affect how well your home comfort system works so it’s important to address clogs as soon as they appear. In some instances, homeowners are able to address the clogs themselves using a wet/dry vacuum. Creating a tight seal around the drain while running the vacuum can create enough suction to dislodge the clog.

If you prefer, you can always Schedule an appointment for air conditioning maintenance and one of our technicians can clean and inspect your whole air conditioning system to ensure there are no clogs or additional concerns with your equipment.
