What temperature do you keep your home in the winter?
In many homes, there’s a struggle over the thermostat, with some people wanting to keep the house warmer, while others with an eye on utility bills turn down the temperature.
Generally, most Canadians keep their homes between 20°C and 22°C during the time day when they’re home.
At night, or when everyone is gone, most homeowners turn down the temperature between 16°C and 18°C.
Adjusting the temperature throughout the day helps ensure that the house stays warm and comfortable when people are home but also helps keep monthly bills low by lowering the temperature at night and when everyone is gone.
Install a Smart Thermostat
The easiest way to monitor and adjust the temperature throughout the day is to install a smart thermostat. The new Daikin One+ is the first two-way communicating smart thermostat that works with communicating Daikin systems. Not only can it automatically adjust the temperature based on set schedules or geo-fencing, it can switch between heating and cooling (perfect for Ottawa springs) to stay within the set comfort zone. Additionally, the thermostat monitors indoor air quality and can send alerts when there is a system issue or the furnace filter needs to be changed.
While we can’t help households settle the debate about the best temperature to keep your house in the winter, we can make it easier to automatically adjust the thermostat.
