Warm weather is finally on the way and there are a few things you can do to get your air conditioner ready for the summer.
- Clear the Condenser
Take off and store the cover if you use one. Next, rake any leaves or debris around the unit that accumulated during the fall and winter. This is important because build up around the outdoor unit can restrict airflow and cause the air conditioner to overheat when running. - Change Furnace Filter
Make sure that your air filter is ready by checking it and changing/cleaning if required. Remember, your whole-home air conditioner uses the same filter as the furnace, so it’s imperative to regularly check and change it throughout the summer to be sure it’s ready. - Adjust Thermostat Settings
So many people forget to change the thermostat settings for summer and then end up having issues with the air conditioner. Make sure the thermostat is set to COOL and you change the batteries if needed. - Schedule AC Maintenance
Sometime during the summer, once it’s safe to do so, you should schedule an air conditioner maintenance appointment. During this important booking, a technician will inspect the cooling system, clean key components, make small adjustments and ensure everything is operating safely and efficiently. Yearly preventative maintenance can help avert future breakdowns and the need for repairs. Annual professional maintenance is also a requirement to keep manufacturer warranties valid.
