There are so many delicious summertime meals that can be easily made on the grill that the hardest part of the whole meal preparation process is choosing what to make! At Team Harding, we’re always looking for simple and delicious recipes that will please the whole family for our readers to try, and these incredible grilled steak tacos are a win in our books!
Taco Ingredients
- 2 lbs of flat iron steak
- 4 sliced avocados
- 2 large tomatoes, diced
- 1 large red onion, diced
- ½ cup of chopped cilantro leaves
- Tortillas of your choice (corn, flour)
- Sides of your choice (salsa, sour cream, guacamole)
Marinate Ingredients
- 1 ½ cup of orange juice
- 3 cloves of garlic, minced
- 3 jalapeno peppers, finely sliced
- ½ cup of chopped cilantro (leaves and stems)
- 1 tablespoon of cinnamon
- 1 tablespoon of cumin
- 1 tablespoon of salt
- 1 tablespoon of grated pepper
Equipment
- Kitchen knife
- Steak knife
- Spatula
- Large self-sealing plastic bag
- Large bowl
- Whisk
Preparation Instructions
- Chop up necessary vegetables including avocados, tomatoes, red onion, cilantro, and jalapenos
- Pour marinade ingredients into a large bowl and mix thoroughly until homogenised
- Poke holes in steak with a steak knife, preferable serrated holes
- Pour marinade mixture into a large self-sealing bag or Tupperware and add steak
- Ensure steak is fully immersed in the mixture and leave to sit in the fridge for anywhere between 1 hour and overnight depending on your personal preference
Grilling Instructions
- Take the bag from the fridge and allow it to settle to room temperature
- Preheat the grill to medium-high
- Place steaks on the grill for about 10 minutes on each side or until you achieve your desired doneness
- Let steak rest for ten minutes before cutting into it
- Slice steak into thin and long pieces and place in tortillas with tomato, red onion, avocado, and fresh cilantro
- Serve hot with your favourite condiments
