If you have a fire table or are purchasing one, make sure you know the do’s and don’ts of having one. Fire table safety is crucial to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience while using a fire table. Read on to learn how to safely use and enjoy your fire table.
The Do’s
DO Enjoy Responsibly
Enjoy your fire table but do so responsibly. Always read and follow the manufacturer’s instructions and guidelines for proper fire table assembly, installation, and use. Never leave the fire table unattended, especially when there are children or pets around. Even a small fire can become dangerous quickly.
DO Select a Safe Location
Find a safe location to place your fire table. Put it on a level, non-combustible surface, away from overhanging structures, trees, and flammable materials. Ensure proper clearance from walls and furniture. Maintain a safe distance between the flames and any surrounding objects, including people. A minimum clearance of several feet is typically recommended.
DO Keep a Fire Extinguisher Nearby
While our fire tables are easy to turn on and off, it’s still wise to have a fire extinguisher close by. Have a working fire extinguisher, a bucket of sand, or a garden hose nearby in case of emergencies.
DO Plan an Evacuation Route
This one is especially important if you have kids. Plan an evacuation route with them in case there’s ever an emergency. Assign a safe meeting place and make sure they know how to get safely away from the fire.
DO Get a Fire Table!
We have a good selection of fire tables at Team Harding and they’re all durable, beautiful backyard fire features. Since they’re dual-function (serving as a table and fire pit), they’re even more desirable. We have round ones, square ones, and rectangular ones, so take your pick and enjoy!
The Don’ts
DON’T Assume It’s Safer
Just because the fire goes on a tabletop and the flames are smaller doesn’t mean it’s safer than any other fire pit. It’s still a fire. The fire is up off the ground, making it easy for kids to reach and grab it. Always supervise kids and pets when the fire table is in use, and make sure your kids know about fire safety.
DON’T Worry About the Weather
While you might not be able to have a fire safely on an extremely windy day, you don’t have to worry about the elements destroying your tabletop fire pit. Our durable fire pits are made with drainage holes that allow the rain to drain away, and come with an optional windscreen to protect it.
DON’T Place Drinks & Items Too Close to the Flames
Yes, our fire tables do convert to fully functional tables, but when the fire pit is in use, don’t place any items or drinks too close to the flame. This poses a fire hazard.
DON’T Move While Lit
Do not attempt to move the fire table while it’s lit or still hot. Allow it to cool down before attempting to relocate it.
DON’T Use Damaged Components
If any part of the fire table is damaged or malfunctioning, do not use it until repairs are made by a qualified professional.
Fireplace & Fire Pit Installation, Service & Repair
Whatever type of fireplace or fire pit you have or decide on, always use it carefully and responsibly. Make sure everyone knows about fire safety. And when your fire pit is in need of repairs, do not put it off as this can result in more costly repairs and more serious safety hazards.
